Our Methodology: How We Score and Rank Platforms
Transparency is non-negotiable. Here is exactly how we evaluate every psychic reading platform — the criteria, the weights, and the process behind our rankings.
The 10-Criteria Scoring Framework
Every platform in our rankings is scored across 10 criteria. Each criterion is scored from 1 to 10, then multiplied by its weight to produce a weighted score. The weighted scores are summed and normalized to produce the final score displayed in our rankings. Here is each criterion explained in detail.
1. Pricing Transparency (15% weight)
We evaluate how clearly and honestly a platform communicates its pricing. This includes: visibility of per-minute rates on advisor profiles, clarity of intro offer terms, absence of hidden fees, transparency of billing practices, and ease of understanding the total cost before starting a session. Platforms that use opaque credit systems or bury important pricing details score lower.
2. Reader Vetting (15% weight)
How does the platform ensure reader quality? We evaluate the screening process for new readers, ongoing quality control mechanisms, review system integrity, and the overall quality floor (the worst reading you could reasonably expect). Curated platforms with formal vetting processes score higher than open marketplaces with no screening, though robust review systems can partially compensate for the absence of pre-screening.
3. Specialty Depth (12% weight)
We assess the range and depth of reading types available. How many specialties are offered? How deep is the roster in each specialty? Can you find sub-specialties within popular categories? A platform with 50 love readers who all describe themselves identically scores lower than one with 30 love readers spanning soulmate connections, breakup recovery, compatibility analysis, and LGBTQ+ relationship guidance.
4. User Experience (12% weight)
The overall quality of the website and app experience. We evaluate: navigation and information architecture, advisor search and filtering capabilities, booking flow smoothness, profile information completeness, and cross-device consistency. A platform can have great readers but still score poorly here if the interface makes them hard to find or the booking process is frustrating.
5. Satisfaction Guarantee (10% weight)
What happens when a reading does not meet expectations? We evaluate the existence, clarity, and generosity of satisfaction guarantees. Money-back guarantees score higher than credit-only guarantees. Easy claiming processes score higher than complex ones. Clear, documented policies score higher than vague promises.
6. Communication Options (8% weight)
The variety of communication formats available. Phone, chat, email, and video each serve different user preferences. Platforms offering more formats with strong execution across all of them score higher. We also evaluate the quality of each format — a platform with three mediocre formats may score lower than one with two excellent formats.
7. Mobile Experience (8% weight)
The quality of the mobile app and mobile web experience. With more than half of psychic reading sessions now initiated on mobile devices, this is an increasingly important criterion. We evaluate app design, performance, feature parity with desktop, and the frequency and quality of updates.
8. Intro Offer Value (8% weight)
The generosity and usability of new user offers. We calculate the effective savings for a typical first session, evaluate any restrictions or fine print, and assess how well the intro offer enables a meaningful evaluation of the platform. An offer that saves $5 on a 3-minute session is less valuable than one that saves $50 on a 20-minute session.
9. Transparency (6% weight)
Beyond pricing, how transparent is the platform overall? We evaluate: review authenticity (can reviews be faked or removed?), advisor information completeness, company ownership and disclosure, and the availability of important policy information without requiring registration.
10. Customer Support (6% weight)
The quality and accessibility of customer support. We evaluate response times, helpfulness, channel availability (email, phone, chat), and the support team's ability to resolve common issues like billing disputes and guarantee claims.
Scoring Process
Our scoring process involves multiple data inputs:
- Direct evaluation: We use each platform as a consumer would — browsing advisors, reviewing pricing, testing the booking flow, and evaluating the interface.
- Public data analysis: We review publicly available information including platform policies, terms of service, pricing pages, and published advisor statistics.
- User feedback synthesis: We analyze patterns in publicly available user reviews and feedback across multiple sources to identify consistent strengths and weaknesses.
- Comparative analysis: Each platform is scored relative to the others. A score of 10 in a category means the platform is the best we have evaluated in that criterion.
Category-Specific Rankings
Our category guides (e.g., best for love readings, best for medium readings) use modified weights that prioritize the criteria most relevant to each use case. For example, the love reading ranking gives extra weight to specialty depth in the love category, while the budget ranking gives extra weight to pricing and intro offer value.
Update Frequency
Platforms change — they update pricing, modify policies, add features, and adjust their reader rosters. We re-evaluate our rankings periodically to ensure the data reflects the current state of each platform. When a significant change occurs (like a major pricing overhaul or a new satisfaction guarantee), we update the affected platform's scores and rankings accordingly.
Limitations
Our methodology evaluates the consumer experience of psychic reading platforms. It does not evaluate the validity of psychic phenomena, the accuracy of individual readings, or the abilities of specific advisors. These are subjective and highly personal factors that cannot be objectively measured with a scoring framework.
Additionally, our scores represent a snapshot in time. While we update regularly, the data you see may not reflect very recent changes. We encourage users to verify current pricing and policies directly on the platform before making a purchase.
